Anniversary Visit

Created by June 7 years ago
Shan and Brian celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2015. We decided to create a memory by way of a day out which did not take place until October 2016, we did not realise at the time that Brian was ill and that this would in fact be one of the last times that he had a proper day out.

We started off the day catching a tube at Epping the first time Brian had done that in about 30 years and disembarked at Stratford allowing him to see the outside of the West Ham Football ground/Olympic Stadium which had had seen on the tv but not in real life. From there we went to Canary Wharf and a trip on the cable car to the O2, this was something that Mike and he enjoyed but Shan and I were tempted to try and get off mid river when it started shaking! After a walk around it was then a trip on a river boat to Westminster - Brian could certainly see how much the skyline had changed. A wander down Whitehall bought us past Downing Street and the Horseguards and at Trafalgar Square we caught a good old London Bus back to Liverpool Street. Drinks on top of the Heron tower next - 73 floors up gave us a good view of London as the sunset. To increase our appetite we went for a walk around Spitalfields, the old vegetable market which is now very much like Covent Garden in the early days and finally as far as Brian was concerned the best part of the day - dinner at the CInnamon Kitchen with a beer! Four very tired people arrived home at 11 that night for a good night's sleep.
